Known Issues for MS14-022

As we are seeing Service Pack 1 and post-Service Pack 1 binaries being delivered with MS14-022, and there are fewer known issues with SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 farms, I would strongly recommend that SP1 be applied prior to installing MS14-022 or if that is not possible, as soon as possible after applying MS14-022. One of the MS14-022 knowledge base articles has also been updated to note that pre-SP1 farms must also install KB2880963.

There are a few known issues with the security update, 

MS14-022 (Vulnerabilities in Microsoft SharePoint Server Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2952166)). Most of these issues have been observed in SharePoint 2013, although some of them may also be present in SharePoint 2010. MS14-022 appears to contain many SP1 and/or post-SP1 binaries.

For SharePoint Server 2013 Pre-SP1 farms:

1) The Office 365 links in Central Administration are now present, unsure of their functionality status.

2) An error appears in the SharePoint Management Shell when it is opened. This has been previously associated with installing Foundation SP1 on Server.

Method 'Upgrade' in type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices.WorkflowServiceApplicationProxy' from assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices, Version=15.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' does not have an implementation.

For SP1 and Pre-SP1 farms:

1) The April 2014 CU Classic to Claims conversion bug with Convert-SPWebApplication bug is present in MS14-022. (Fixed in the June 2014 Cumulative Update)

2) “%25″ is added to the URL when searching within the farm (Content Query Webparts, and elsewhere), otherwise known as the “double encoding” bug. 

While this security update is classified as Critical, this is a patch I would run through extended testing in a non-production farm if the production farm is currently not running Service Pack 1.

Failed to download chart or image

Failed to download chart or image

issue: After create chart and upload to site. I got error "failed to download chart or image"

Cause: In Excel Service, there is a file size limit in the configuration. Large graphs may cause this to fail.  By default  is 1MB, so if a chart is bigger than that, it won't render. 

Solution: To solve the issue, Please take steps as below:

1.   Go to central Administration->Application management->manage service applications->Excel services application->Trusted File Locations.

2.   Edit the Trusted File Location, change Maximum Chart or Image Size to 50 and Maximum Concurrent Queries Per Session to 50.

3.   Go to Global Settings, change Memory Cache Threshold to 95

Importing of List templates with .STP files

Descriptions: please follow the below step by step procedure to import .stp files and use in another library.

Solutions: Ensure to follow the steps.

1.   Download the list template EXE file to your computer.

2.   Run the EXE file to unpack the template file to a location on your computer.

3.   Select the template file, <template_name>.stp, from the extracted distribution for the application template you wish to install.

4.   Log into your SharePoint site as the site Administrator.

5.   From the Site Actions drop-down menu in the top right, select Site Settings.

6.   Under the Galleries section, select List templates.

7.   Select Upload to load an application template into this SharePoint site.

8.    Browse to the <template_name>.stp file from the distribution and select Open. If you have several application templates to load into your site, you can use the Upload Multiple Files… option to load them all at once.

9.   Click Ok to complete the upload of the application template to your SharePoint site.

Applying the new List Template:

1.   Log into your SharePoint site as the site Administrator.

2.   From the Site Actions drop-down menu in the top right, select Site Settings.

3.   Under the Site Administration section, select Sites and Workspaces.

4.    Select Create to create a new list using a list template.

5.    Find the list template that was uploaded.

6.   Select the template to use for this site and click Create.

7.   A list has now been created using the list template

How to create a new list:
In order to create a new list based on an .stp once you've saved it and imported it, you'd go to Site Settings > Site Contents then click the link for "Add an App" at the top.  You should see your list there.

Issue: The user does not exist or is not unique in share point 2013,when we check the user in people picker.

Solution: This issue could be of many reasons, In this article I am providing all the relevant solutions to resolve the issue.

Solution 1: ensure that there is no space, The most common issue that occurs with the above is inadvertently adding a space character between the elements of the path.

For example:
instead of OU=Users,DC=CONTOSO,DC=COM you type OU=Users, DC=CONTOSO,DC=COM

Solution 2: Ensure that the user account is not in Disabled state in AD.

Solution 3: Ensure that the user account is not Locked out state in AD
