SQL high available failover:

Description: Most of the administrators think that the failover should do in SQL HA by the Windows Cluster, but it’s not true. we need to do the failover by the HA method which is configured in SQL.

In this article I am providing the steps to do the failover.

Steps: Please follow the steps below to do failover in HA.

As per below screen ,Secondary Don’t have any resources so patch first in secondary.

                                 

 Once patching done successful in secondary do failover resources to secondary, then  primary becomes secondary.

Do patch in other secondary now.

Failover steps:

1.      Logon to the SQL server with SQL account

2.      Go to SQL management studio.

3.      Expand availability groups as per the screen below.

4.      Right click the DB

5.      Click on Failover

6.      Click on next in introduction

7.      Select a new primary replica->next

8.      connect to replica->click next.

9.      successful

August 2015 CU for SharePoint 2013 is available for download

 The product group released the August 2015 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2013 product family.

For August 2015 CU we have full server packages (also known as Uber packages). No other CU is required to fully patch SharePoint.

As this is a common question: Yes, August 2015 CU includes all fixes from August 2015 PU.

ATTENTION:

Be aware that all Updates for SharePoint 2013 require SharePoint Server 2013 SP1 to be installed first.

Please also have a look at the article that discusses how to properly patch a SharePoint 2013 farm which has Search enabled (see below).

This CU includes all SharePoint 2013 fixes (including all SharePoint 2013 security fixes) released since SP1. The CU does not include SP1. You need to install SP1 before installing this CU.

For August 2015 CU we have full server packages (also known as Uber packages). No other CU is required to fully patch SharePoint.

As this is a common question: Yes, August 2015 CU includes all SharePoint security fixes released with August 2015 PU.

Be aware that CU is a Post-SP2 hotfix. It is required to have SP2 installed before installing the CU.

It is required to have SP2 installed for the base product and all installed language packs to install August 2015 CU for SharePoint 2010.

This CU includes all SharePoint 2010 fixes (including all SharePoint 2010 security fixes) released since SP2. The CU does not include SP2.

After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm.

Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2010 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU.
That means only one package has to be installed for the SharePoint 2010 product family.

SharePoint 2010 Management Shell does not load with Windows Power Shell 3.0

Issue: After you install Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Windows Power Shell 3.0 on a server, you receive one or both of the following error messages when you start SharePoint 2010 Management Shell:

Error message 1:The local farm is not accessible. Cmdlets with FeatureDependencyId are not registered.

Error message 2:Microsoft SharePoint is not supported with version 4.0.30319.17929 of the Microsoft .Net Runtime.

Workaround: please follow the work around mentioned below.

To work around this issue, change the Target field value for SharePoint 2010 Management Shell. To do this, follow these steps:

1.   Click Start, and then right-click SharePoint 2010 Management Shell.

2.   Click Properties.

3.   Click the Shortcut tab in the SharePoint 2010 Management Shell Properties window.

4.   Input the following value in the Target field:

C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -Version 2.0 -NoExit " & ' C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\CONFIG\POWERSHELL\Registration\\sharepoint.ps1 ' "

Task synchronization between SharePoint and Exchange

I am getting the queries about the synchronization between SharePoint and exchange from users, hence writing this article to explain the same.

Details: have configure task synchronization between SharePoint Server 2013 and Exchange. Some users see the tasks in OWA (or Outlook) synced from SharePoint but after they change this tasks in OWA - changes do not appear in SharePoint. If you then change the task again in SharePoint task data in OWA will be replaced.

Why the synchronization is not happened in vice versa?

Answer: It is by design that the tasks created in Outlook will not be synced to SharePoint task list and the tasks will be synced to Personal Tasks in users’ My Site. This is how the new feature “Sync to Outlook” works in SharePoint 2013.

If you want to display the task in the task list, then you can edit the task to make it public and choose the task list where to store it.
